Marthena, the daughter of Aiko Melendez, believes showbiz royalties like her “have it one level easier” than others and for that they should be humble and grateful.

Marthena said this when asked by Melendez what her advice would be to her fellow celebrity offsprings, in an interview vlog on the actress-politician’s YouTube channel on Monday, July 29.

“Always be humble kasi if it weren’t for our parents, we wouldn’t be where we are,” Marthena said.

Marthena further noted that their parents already “carved the path” ahead of their children. “So feel ko, it’s our job and our responsibility na pangalagaan ‘yon and to always be grateful.”

“Hindi naman sa—ewan ko kung pwede ko itong sabihin, pero I feel like we have it one level easier than the rest of everyone else, kasi syempre nandyan na kayo to guide us and be with us,” she added. “Always be humble just be true to yourselves.”

When asked, however, if she plans to enter show business, Marthena said she currently does not.

“Right now, it’s not my focus. Parang hindi pa ako masyadong out of my shell for that kind of stretch out of my comfort zone. Gusto ko mga endorsements muna, commercials kung meron,” she told Melendez.

Marthena, who just graduated from high school and turned 18, also revealed during the interview that she dreams of becoming a lawyer.

She further disclosed that she is set to pursue a developmental studies degree in Ateneo de Manila University, after she forewent opportunities to study in universities in the United Kingdom and in the United States where she was accepted.

Marthena is Melendez’s child with former model-actor Martin Jickain. Aside from Marthena, Melendez has a son with actor Jomari Yllana named Andre.
