Actress Joyce Ching defended her husband, Kevin Alimon, after the latter received negative comments from netizens due to “not hugging” his wife during their gender-reveal party.
In the comment section of their gender-reveal video, netizens observed that Ching was waiting for a hug from her husband and that she was sad that she did not get it when they pulled the piñata and found out that they were having a baby girl.
“Gusto ko lang iclarify. Hindi po ako naghihintay ng hug. Okay lang po ako. At hindi po ako nalungkot sa reaksiyon ng asawa ko (I just want to clarify. I was not waiting for a hug. I’m fine, and I was not saddened by my husband’s reaction),” said the Kapuso actress in a separate video uploaded on TikTok on Thursday, Aug. 1.
Ching shared that both of them were expecting a boy, and were so shocked that the reveal was a girl.
“Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Paano kapag pink ‘yung lumabas na confetti?’ Kailangan ‘yung reaction natin maayos pa rin so naglolokohan kami, practice tayo [ng reaction],” she shared.
(I said to him, ‘What if the confetti comes out pink?’ We need to have a good reaction, so we were fooling around; let’s practice the reaction.)
“Kung kilala niyo kami ni Kevin as a couple, ‘yung napanood niyo sa video ayun ‘yung pinaka raw. As in literally ganiyan kaming dalawa sa relationship namin fun fun lang, chill chill lang,” the actress continued.
(If you know Kevin and I as a couple, what you saw in the video is the rawest of us. As in, literally, both of us are like that in our relationship; it’s just fun fun, just chill chill.)
Ching stressed that there’s more that happen behind the camera that show their love and affection as a couple.
“‘Yung (as for) love and affection naman, it goes beyond the glimpse ng mga video na nakikita niyo online (of the videos you see online). Marami pang nangyayari sa loob ng bahay ng mag-asawa (There is still a lot going on inside the couple’s house). ‘Yung love and affection, ‘di lang siya sa hug or sa physical touch (The love and affection aren’t just expressed through a hug or physical touch),” she expressed.
“If I wanted a hug, pwedeng pwede ko yakapin si Kevin anytime kong gustuhin kahit hindi ako magpaalam kasi mag asawa naman kami, so hindi ko siya kailangan pa hintayin na yakapin pa ako (I can hug Kevin anytime I want; I don’t have to ask permission anymore because we are married, so I don’t have to wait for him to hug me),” concluded the actress.
The couple tied the knot in 2019 and announced her pregnancy last June.
