Sarah Lahbati expressed her love for her sister-in-law Alexa Gutierrez, who died of leukemia last July 27, with the actress addressing Gutierrez as her “sestra” who will remain in her heart.
Alexa’s inurnment was held on Thursday, Aug. 1, after holding a wake at the Santuario De San Antonio, Forbes Park, McKinley Road in Makati City from July 29 to 31.
Lahbati, who has been estranged from the Gutierrez family amid her separation with actor Richard Gutierrez, said in a now-expired Instagram Story last Wednesday, July 31, that she’s still in disbelief over Alexa’s death, while sharing a photo of them together.
“I can’t wrap my head around why. Why. Too soon, Lex. It’s not fair,” she wrote, addressing Alexa using her nickname.

In a separate post, Lahbati uploaded a photo of Alexa relaxing by the beach.
“Forever in my heart. My sestra, I love you,” she said.

Lahbati tied the knot with Richard in March 2020 after over 10 years together. The actress confirmed in March 2024 that they had parted ways, although she clarified they have yet to process their annulment. They have two children together, Kai and Zion.
Born Alexandra Joelle Uichico, Alexa is the wife of former child star Elvis Gutierrez, brother of Richard. Her death was confirmed by her sister-in-law Ruffa Gutierrez. Alexa’s leukemia battle was made public in January 2024.
