Squid Game” season two, which marks the continuation of Seong Gi-hun’s (Lee Jung-jae) story, is set to premiere on Dec. 26. It was also confirmed that the hit series will end in its third and final season in 2025.

The premiere dates of “Squid Game” were confirmed by a streaming platform via video announcement, showing the players on a race track while being watched over by the Front Man and guards.

“It’s been three years. Do you want to play again?” the Front Man said.

Meanwhile, the series’ creator and director, Hwang Dong-hyuk, expressed his excitement for the continuation of its saga in a letter, while admitting his disbelief over its “incredible response.”

“The real game begins. It’s been almost three years since Season 1 was met with incredible response around the world and many unimaginable events took place. I am beyond excited to be writing this letter to announce the date of Season 2,” he wrote.

“I remember thinking, ‘Wow, I can’t believe I’m back in the world of ‘Squid Game.’ It almost felt surreal. I wonder how it will feel for you to be back in Squid Game after three years as well,” he continued.

Hwang hinted that seasons 2 and 3 will focus on the “fierce clash” between Seong and the Front Man.

“I am thrilled to see the seed that was planted in creating a new ‘Squid Game’ grow and bear fruit through the end of this story. We’ll do our best to make sure we bring you another thrill ride. I hope you’re excited for what’s to come. Thank you, always, and see you soon, everyone,” he added.

Lee will be joined by Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-gun, ex-BigBang member T.O.P, soloist Jo Yu-ri, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Roh Jae-won, Won Ji-an and Kang Ae-sim.
