The death of Alexa Gutierrez, daughter-in-law of screen veterans Eddie Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama, and wife of former child star Elvis Gutierrez, brought a wave of heartbreak to one of the biggest clans in the entertainment industry, as members of the family celebrated her life.
Alexa died at the age of 38 on Saturday, July 27 after battling leukemia or cancer of the blood. Her condition was made public by Ruffa and Rama in January 2024.
Raymond Gutierrez took to his Instagram account on Sunday, July 28 to pay tribute to Alexa by sharing a black-and-white photo of her with her children.
“You will forever be in our hearts @alexaugutz,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, Ruffa’s daughters Lorin and Venice were heartbroken over their aunt’s death, as they shared some of their most unforgettable memories with Alexa on their respective Instagram accounts.
For Venice, Alexa was an aunt who inspired her to be a “super cool teenage girl” and made an effort to be her “babysitter” since 2007. “My dearest Tita Lex, nothing could have prepared me for how much I’ll miss you.”
“It has been a privilege to have known you and been loved by you,” Venice continued. “I will pray every day that you are resting easy, I will pray for the kids and Tito Elvis, and I will make sure to be the best ate to your girls. Your passing has left a hole in this family that nothing will be able to fill. I am so grateful for all the memories we’ve shared.”
Despite her diagnosis, Lorin remembered Alexa as someone who battled her cancer with “so much grace, positivity, and faith in the Lord.” She also expressed her gratitude to the latter for allowing her to be a “junior bridesmaid” at her wedding.
“I never wanted to know a world without you. You are so easy to love, which made saying goodbye to you the hardest thing I have ever been through. I missed you the second you left. Our family won’t be the same without you,” she added.
The Gutierrez clan also received an outpouring of support from fellow celebrities including Iza Calzado, Kaila Estrada, Rufa Mae Quinto, Jackie Forster, Sunshine Cruz, Marjorie Barretto, Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla, Bela Padilla, Toni Gonzaga, Camille Prats, Sharon Cuneta, Claudine Barretto, Isabel Oli-Prats, Jackie Lou Blanco, Ogie Alcasid, and Aiko Melendez, as seen in the comments of Ruffa Gutierrez’s post.
Alexa’s wake will take place at the Santuario De San Antonio, Forbes Park, McKinley Road in Makati City from July 29 to 31.
Her inurnment is scheduled for August 1, although further details are yet to be announced.
