For the first time, Jillian Ward addressed the negative comments she received when she bought herself a luxury car last year on her 18th birthday, stressing that she deserved it after having worked hard since she was a child.
In a recent interview with Boy Abunda on “My Mother, My Story,” the former child star was asked about the malicious information that made the rounds last year that there was someone who paid for her car as well as her grand debut celebration.
“First time kong mag-open up about it (it’s my first time to open up about it). I just hope na nakikita nila na two years old pa lang ako , naka-diaper pa lang ako, nagwo-work na ako (they get to see that since I was only two years old, still in my diapers, I was already working).”
Ward underscored that everything she has is the fruit of her years of hard work.
“I think naman somehow na lahat po na meron ako is deserved ko through my hard work. I just hope na huwag silang masyadong maniwala sa fake news. Ganyan na po sila ever since. Parang underage pa lang ako, ang dami nang misconceptions about me,” she stressed.
(I think that somehow everything I have I deserve through my hard work. I just hope they don’t believe too much in fake news. They have been like that ever since. I think since I was still underage, there have been so many misconceptions about me.)

The 19-year-old actress also shared that, aside from her savings, some people, including her network, pitched in with the expenses of her elegant debut.
“Napag-ipunan ko po lahat nang meron ako ngayon. Like yung sa debut, even GMA-7, nag-share sa debut party ko. Yung mga endorsement ko po, nag-share sila,” she said.
(Everything that I have now I bought from my savings. Like the debut, even GMA-7 shared the expenses of my debut party. Also my endorsements.)
“So, kumbaga lahat ng meron ako, galing po yan sa hard work ko talaga. Sa malinis na paraan. So, I find it a bit unfair. Meron silang mga sinasabi na walang basis talaga,” added the young actress.
(So, everything I have comes from my hard work, in a clean way. So, I find it a bit unfair. They say things that have no basis at all.)
Ward admitted that it makes her sad that people don’t get to see her hard work, but she believes that she doesn’t need to defend herself against the false information.
“Yung cars ko, galing sa mga endorsement ko, sa mga taping ko. Ilang years na akong nagte-taping, fifteen years na next year. Sa 20th birthday ko. Medyo nalungkot ako dahil hindi nila nakikita yung hard work ko,” she remarked.
(My cars came from my endorsements, from my tapings. I’ve been taping for several years, fifteen years next year. On my 20th birthday. I was a little sad because they couldn’t see my hard work.)
“Ang dami rin pong naniniwala [sa fake news], pero hindi na lang po ako nagsalita about it. Sabi nga po, kung hindi totoo, wala akong dapat patunayan. Wala akong kailangang sabihin,” added the actress.
(There are still many people who believe [in fake news], but I just didn’t talk about it. As they say, if it’s not true, I don’t have to prove anything. I don’t have to say anything.)
Ward began her acting career at the age of 5. She rose to fame after she starred in the 2010 series “Trudis Liit.” She currently stars in GMA Network’s “Abot-Kamay na Pangarap.”
