Imee Marcos steals show with Moro-inspired outfit for Sona 2024
Senator Imee Marcos stole the red carpet limelight from her brother, President Bongbong Marcos Jr. with her choice of outfit for his 3rd State of the Nation Address (Sona 2024).
The presidential sister was a standout as she walked the red carpet alongside her sons, Borgy and Michael Manotoc. The legislator, however, ditched the traditional Filipiniana terno worn by most of the female attendees, and opted for a Moro-inspired olive green sleeveless dress with brass accents and matching tiara and bangle.
When asked by the media what her garb symbolizes, she said she took inspiration from the “Moro armor,” adding that “Marami kasing mapupusok, kaya kailangan naka-armor na.” (So many people are becoming impulsive, so one should wear an armor.)

While there were those who complimented Marcos for her choice of gown for her brother’s Sona, there were those who couldn’t help but notice that her outfit was reminiscent of the hit fantasy television series, “Game of Thrones.”

A netizen, meanwhile, claimed Marcos’ look was reminiscent of a character in the “Game of Thrones” prequel, “House of the Dragon.”
Tribute to farmers
Earlier at the Senate for the opening of the session, Marcos also wore another green dress, a Filipiniana with butterfly sleeves with an image of the famous Amorsolo painting called “Planting Rice,” which depicted famers toiling in the rice field.
