Jessy Mendiola spoke out against a recent trend in which fans take video of themselves at the grave of the late actor Rico Yan, with the actress lamenting how some lack a sense of “decency.”

Mendiola said this as she shared an article discussing how the trend has earned negative reactions on social media, as seen on the actress’ Instagram Stories on Tuesday, July 9.

Some pointed out that Yan’s grave was seemingly turned into a “tourist attraction” as fans visit it for clout.

“Wala na [bang] magawang matino ang mga social media addicts? Konting respeto naman sa namayapa na at pati na rin sa pamilya ng [yumao]. Susme,” Mendiola wrote.

“Lahat na lang ba para sa likes, followers and views? Nakalimutan na yata ng mga tao ang salitang ‘respeto.’ Wala nang decency,” she lamented.

The actress also left a comment on the Instagram post for the article, saying, “Very disrespectful. Tsk.”

Yan was best known for his roles in the hit films “Mula sa Puso,” “Got 2 Believe” and “Dahil Mahal na Mahal Kita” where he starred opposite his then reel and real-life partner Claudine Barretto.

Yan died in March 2002 at the age of 27. The cause of death was declared as cardiac arrest due to acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis.
