Jed Madela asserts issue with former manager is a ‘private matter’
Jed Madela stressed that he wants to treat his apparent rift with former manager and aunt Annie Mercado as a family matter and thus should be private, days after he was called out for making “innuendos” about her in his new song “Wish U The Worst.”
Madela earlier made headlines after Mercado accused the singer of being “ungrateful” in a Facebook post earlier this month, saying the former tends to “play the victim.”
On the sidelines of his “Welcome To My World” concert, Madela said in an ABS-CBN News interview that he and Mercado are dealing with their rift “privately” while clarifying that his new song was “written by a different person.”
“For me, it’s a family matter, and we’re trying to deal with it privately. So yeah,” he said. “I didn’t write [‘Wish U The Worst’], it was written by a different person.”
The singer said “Wish U The Worst,” written and composed by Kio Priest, was offered to him because he wanted a “new sound,” but it got caught in the middle of their feud.

He added that he will always remain grateful to Mercado for helping him in his showbiz career, but as things stand now, they both have “different priorities” which they would like to pursue. Still, he said he is hoping for things to get better between them.

Mercado has yet to address Madela’s statement, as of press time.
