BINI Aiah calls for respect for ‘personal time’ after fan incident in Cebu
Aiah Arceta of BINI urged the public to respect the “personal time and humanity” of celebrities after she and her bandmates experienced a disturbing encounter with a man who appeared to have been trying to kiss her at a lounge bar in Cebu City.
On her Instagram Stories, Arceta sounded an alarm after a certain AJ Fernan tried to move his face close to the BINI singer at the bar where she was trying to unwind along with some companions following the “BINIverse” concert.
A video of the incident quickly made the rounds of social media, where Arceta could be seen visibly shocked and immediately tried to move away from the man.
“I appreciate and am grateful to everyone who has been so kind, understanding, and patient with me. I am blessed to have people like them, and I hope we can continue to have eyes that can see the good, mouths that can speak what’s right, and ears that can listen and understand,” she added.
She said she returned to her hometown in Cebu to destress and enjoy time with family and friends, but was disappointed when some people don’t understand her “need for privacy and personal time.”

Some would directly run up to me, grab a photo even while I was eating), post it in real-time, use my face, and post it on pages or places for the sake of clout and publicity without my consent, and worse, some would even include the real-time location, which I don’t think is safe,” she said.”

“Don’t get me wrong, I like taking pictures with others, and I enjoy meeting people who are as passionate as we are in the world of music and entertainment,” she said. “But I just hope that people also see and respect us as human beings. We don’t always get to go out lately because we have been busy with work, and the least we can ask for is for others to respect our personal time and our humanity.”
The BINI member also reminded her followers to be “kinder with their words and actions,” especially on social media, while noting how it can affect someone.
“You never know how much it could take a toll on somebody and affect them on a daily basis. I hope we can fill this world with love, respect, and positivity,” she added.
Arceta’s post comes days after Star Magic head Laurenti Dyogi reminded the public to respect the P-pop girl group’s privacy and free time on BINI’s official social media platforms.
Aside from Arceta, her bandmate Maloi was also subject to a similar incident, after being mobbed by fans while dining out with her family in Batangas. She has yet to address the incident, as of press time.
Born Maraiah Queen Arceta, she made her debut as the main rapper, vocalist, and visual of BINI in June 2021. She was crowned as Ms. Silka Philippines 2018 before entering ABS-CBN’s Star Hunt Academy and making her official debut.
