Losing a pet leaves a deep void in one’s heart, and a number of celebrities are no stranger to this. Actors Anne Curtis, John Arcilla and Christian Bables are just few of the fur parents who recently had to say goodbye to their fur babies.
As we mark the Pet Remembrance Day, let’s honor these furry friends as well as their fur parents’ love which reaches over the rainbow bridge.
Anne Curtis
Curtis bid farewell to her cat Mogwai last July 1, recounting how the latter had been a family to her for 11 years.
“On a rainy Sunday afternoon, after almost 11 years of being part out of our family, our dearest Mogwai has crossed over the rainbow bridge,” she said, showing photos of her cuddling with him.
“He will always be my little gremlin munchkin. Sweet dreams, old man,” she added. “We are going to miss him.”
John Arcilla
The month of June was hard for Arcilla as he had to deal with the consecutive demise of two of his dogs, Munmun and Twinzie. Munmun was 13 years old, while Twinzie was 17 when they passed away.
“I had a total of 15 fur babies acquired and from three generations a decade ago. I grew up having dogs all my life but they’re leaving me behind one by one,” he lamented.
“I have never imagined in my childhood days that there will be a time when you’ll feel losing everyone, including these fur babies who love you unconditionally and are supposed to be your companion when some friends and family are also slowly leaving us behind,” he said.
Christian Bables
Bables lost his dog of seven years named Hope last June 15. Days later, Bables sought an apology from the pet crematorium that handled his dog’s remains, with the actor saying his pet was treated like a “pig in a market.”
The pet crematorium extended its apologies to Bables, who subsequently accepted it.
“Mahal na mahal kita, Hope. Sana sa panahong magkita tayo ulit, kung mangyayari man, salubungin niyo ako ng masayang masaya. Ipag dadasal kong mangyari yun. Paalam anak,” the actor wrote.
Lovi Poe
Last February, Lovi Poe had to say to goodbye to her 17-year-old dog Phoebe. Phoebe, according to the actress, was initially given a mere six months to live, but “she surpassed all expectations.”
“Run freely now, Phoebe, and jump around the clouds. Carry my love and kisses to my other cherished angels, Ross, Chibby, Chubby and Seth,” she said, referring to her other pets in the rainbow bridge.
Sanya Lopez
Sanya Lopez lost her pet dog Mackee in February as well. The actress underscored at the time that although they were only able to be together for a short time, the happiness Mackee brought her will remain.
“Maraming salamat at nakilala ka namin. Mahal na mahal ka namin,” she addressed her dog. “You’ll always be forever in our hearts. Run free, my baby Mackee!”
