Kris Aquino opened up about her blooming relationship with a new boyfriend, a doctor in the Philippines, clarifying that there was no overlapping between the latter and her previous boyfriend, Batangas Vice Gov. Mark Leviste.
The Queen of All Media spoke about this through an interview with showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz, who flew to the United States to visit her. Aquino has been seeking medical treatment for her autoimmune diseases in California, but she hopes to return to the Philippines before the end of September this year if she cleared her forthcoming medical tests.
Aquino’s conversation with Diaz was documented through the latter’s YouTube vlog on Saturday, June 29, which also included an interview with her youngest son Bimby.
“It just flowed. He’s a doctor and I think that’s part of the reason why it was easy, kasi alam niya kung ano ‘yung pinagdadaanan ko,” she said of her new inspiration whom she did not name.
“He’s part of the reasons why I’m confident na pwede akong umuwi, kasi alam ko na there’s someone who will help in taking care of me. So obviously, by saying that, alam na nila na he’s a doctor based in the Philippines—in Makati,” she added.
Aquino also set the record straight and said that her new beau was not the reason behind her breakup with Leviste, and that her relationship with the former started long after she ended things with the politician.
Speaking about his mother and the status of her heart, Bimby said: “Now, mom’s heart is peaceful lang—steady, at peace.” Bimby was initially the only one getting interviewed by Diaz, but Aquino eventually chimed in. He was hesitant at first to confirm his mom’s new love but Aquino, who was initially behind the camera, gave him a go sign to confirm her new love.
“Meron [nang bago]… He’s a very good guy, non-showbiz. Medyo makulit lang but very good guy,” Bimby said.
Bimby-Leviste’s ‘misunderstanding’
When asked about Leviste, Bimby said, “He has always been respectful. He has always been nice to me and my brother—my family in general. But since before mom’s birthday, they’re not together na.”
“‘Pag long distance syempre mahirap (If it’s a long distance relationship, it’s surely a hard thing). Tsaka there’s a lot of things,” he added, opting not to expound on the breakup and speak about the possibilities of the pair’s reconciliation.
Aquino then spoke of Leviste, “Definitely, walang balikan na mangyayari… Magfa-five months na ‘yan.”
She noted that her previous relationship with Leviste had been on shaky ground since November 2023. “Sinubukang ayusin, pero may mga nalaman ako na hindi ko gusto.”
Aquino also revealed, pointing at Bimby, “Hindi sila nagkasundo nung ex. Hindi niya gusto e.”
Bimby, in his defense, stressed, “I tried to be polite.”
She then underscored that Bimby’s opinion matters to her because he knows her best. She further recalled agreeing to Bimby when he told her: “I don’t think you really love him. I think you’re just sad.”
Friendly ‘at a distance’
Aquino extended her well wishes for Leviste, but stated that the “doors are already closed” for the possibilities of them getting back together.
“We both tried but I think tama ‘yung sinabi ni Bimb also. I’d like to say na we’re still friendly pero at a distance na,” she said.
“Gusto ko mag-move on and I think I have, and I never confirmed publicly. Sa kanya naman nanggaling ang lahat, and ‘yun rin ang hindi ko gusto,” she admitted.
The actress-host then expressed hopes that this chapter would now be closed, appealing to the public to stop asking the politician about her and her condition.
“Hindi naman niya alam kung kumusta na ako talaga kasi wala nang communication apart from ‘thank you’ and ‘God bless,'” she clarified.
