K-pop female quintet (G)I-DLE will return to the K-pop scene with the release of their seventh mini-album “I Sway” on July 8, which shows their growth as artists.

(G)I-DLE’s new album was confirmed by their label Cube Entertainment in a press statement, as it’s set to show the girl group’s “(G)I-DLE Y2K sensibility.” The label also announced the new album on its official social media pages.

The announcement contains a photo of a pink and yellow cassette player with a tape inside. The tape contains the album’s release date and its title.

Details on the album’s title track and tracklist are yet to be announced, as of press time. Despite this, the label hinted at the concept of the group’s album through the “Wind” and “Wave”-themed teasers and concept trailer of Soyeon, Miyeon, Minnie, Yuqi, and Shuhua.

“I Sway” marks (G)I-DLE’s second release of the year, six months after their second full-length album “[2].” The latter record featured double title tracks “Super Lady” and “Wife.”

Meanwhile, Yuqi made her solo debut in April with her first mini-album “YUQ1.”

(G)I-DLE debuted as a six-piece act in May 2018. Following the departure of Soojin in August 2021, the girl group pushed ahead as a quintet seven months later.

One of the group’s standout elements is how the group’s leader Soyeon took over as the lyricist and producer of the majority of their songs.
