How long ago was it when we first saw Suri Cruise as a baby proudly being shown by her parents to the paparazzi? Yep, about 18 years ago.
Fast forward to the present, a lot of things seemed to be happening for Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter: she’s now officially an adult who just graduated from high school, and oh — now able to decide whether to ditch her father’s name from her school musical’s playbill and graduation program (she did).
On top of that, Suri got herself a boyfriend.
A paparazzi shot has shown Suri kissing her boyfriend, Toby Cohen, who also went with her to LaGuardia High School in New York. Several pictures made the rounds of social media showing Suri locking lips with the budding musician; she wearing a graphic shirt and athletic shorts with her long brunette tresses flowing down her back, he in a black sleeveless shirt and gray joggers.

Suri also went with Cohen to their prom night in Manhattan. The bubbly teenager looked all grown up, dazzling in a low-cut floral dress with an asymmetrical skirt and high heels, per pictures obtained by a fan account, as posted on Instagram. A flower corsage adorned her wrist, while she brought a little black purse.
Cohen, in a dark blue tie and suit, had a red kiss mark on his left cheek.
Milestones sans Tom Cruise
But while she was the spitting image of her father, that was where their similarities ended. In fact, their relationship was said to be so strained that Suri did not even want to have anything to do with his father, not even to have his surname on her school musical’s casting pamphlet.
A report by entertainment platform Hello magazine claimed Suri made the subtle change to her name by dropping her father’s surname on the playbill of the musical comedy “Head Over Heels,” where she played the lead role of Philoclea.
According to the report, Suri instead used her mother’s middle name, Noelle, in the program; thus, Suri Noelle.
She did the same thing at her graduation program where she was tagged as “Suri Noelle” in her photos.
This estrangement from her father is hardly surprising as throughout her milestones from childhood to when she teetered on adulthood, the 61-year-old Cruise was seemingly absent. He and Holmes cut ties after their bitter divorce. He got to keep his standing at the Church of Scientology; she got to keep Suri, and their bond had remained strong since.
As Suri turned 18 last April, Cruise no longer has any financial obligation to support her through an annual child support paycheck, and apparently this also symbolized the severing of their legal ties.
Though Cruise may have wanted to make good on his promise to be a good father to all his children, reports said the “Mission Impossible” actor had over the years failed to visit his daughter, and reuniting with her now seemed in vain.
When Suri graduated from high school last week, she celebrated with Holmes and her grandparents, and some friends.
And while haters are gonna hate, Cruise curiously missed his daughter’s graduation, and was photographed the next day attending Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert in London, exchanging bracelets with other Swifties, and dancing to “Shake It Off.”
