Donny Pangilinan and Kaila Estrada were all praises for their superstar moms, Maricel Laxa and Janice de Belen, respectively, as they talked about what it feels like to grow up in show biz.
In the first episode of Netflix’s “Bida/Bida: I Made It, Mom!” the two young actors had a face-off battle over who had a more iconic mother.
“Just in time, magaling kasi mag-drive si Mommy,” said Pangilinan as he and his mother rushed to go inside the elevator.
“Well, wala ka sa nanay ko, punctual kaya ‘di kami nalilate,” responded Estrada.
“Mas wala ka sa nanay ko, hindi niya na kailangan maging punctual kasi siya si Maricel Laxa,” countered Pangilinan.
“Mas wala ka sa nanay ko, dahil sa sobrang iconic sikat na ‘yung catchphrase na ‘Anak ni Janice’ even before I was born,” answered Estrada.
After the two youngsters contended about their moms, the daughter-mother and son-mother duos sat down to talk about what it feels like to grow up in a household of actors.
Estrada and Pangilinan both agreed that they had a pretty “normal” childhood despite having famous parents. Their mothers, meanwhile, both shared the sentiment that they didn’t want their children to enter show biz at the beginning.
“I share your mom’s sentiments because when they were younger, I’m hoping that this is not what you want to do. I mean, I don’t care what you do. You want to be whatever. But I hope not this one,” said de Belen.
“As parents, we always want you to have an easy life because this life’s not as easy as you think it is. It comes with a lot of emotional stress. It comes with physical stress,” added the seasoned actress.
When asked what their advice is to their kids, both de Belen and Laxa said that they should always “give their best” in everything they do.
Estrada is de Belen’s daughter with actor John Estrada, while Pangilinan is Laxa’s son with businessman Anthony Pangilinan.
