Singer Gracie Abrams was all praises for Taylor Swift as she recalled the time when the latter put out a fire while they were hanging out in the “Black Space” singer’s apartment.

In an interview with Billboard, Abrams said a fire broke out in Swift’s kitchen after a candle fell over while they were working on their collaborative song “Us,” adding that she admired the “Love Story” singer for knowing how to deal with the fire.

“She was such a legend—I don’t know how at this hour or in our state she knew what to do. We both had an insane cough from the fire extinguisher fumes for weeks,” shared Abrams.

Despite an almost dangerous situation, Abrams was glad that they got the chance to preview each other’s music earlier that evening, which led them to write “Us” together.

Abrams recalled singing and dancing with Swift “like theater kids” as they listened to the latter’s tracks from her then forthcoming album The Tortured Poets Department, such as “But Daddy, I Love Him” and “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” which made the former “lie on the floor in disbelief,” a moment she posted on Instagram that went viral.

Abrams then extended her gratitude to Swift for “believing in her” and for “being a generous friend.”

“She’s just the most unbelievable performer and the most generous friend, and the fact that she took a chance on me is, I think, why I get to be in this room tonight. It’s not lost on me that her belief in me has really just done a lot. So, I’m deeply grateful to her, forever,” said Abrams.

After working together on one of the tracks for Abrams’ upcoming album “The Secret of Us,” which will be released on June 21, she also previously served as the opening act for 12 shows on Swift’s Eras Tour.
