After almost a decade, Jolina Magdangal is set to make her return to television as she joins the cast of the upcoming revenge series “Lavender Fields.”
The announcement was made on the Instagram account of Dreamscape Entertainment, which announced the singer-actress as part of the cast.
“This is the Iconic Return of the Pinoy Pop Culture Icon sa Primetime Bida! Abangan si Jolina Magdangal sa GRANDEST SERYE ng taon,” the caption read.
Magdangal will be playing the role of Lily Atienza and will be joining Jodi Sta. Maria, Janine Gutierrez and Jericho Rosales.
The 45-year-old award-winning actress-singer was last seen in the teleserye “FlordeLiza” with her love-team partner Marvin Agustin in 2015.
Magdangal is currently one of the mainstay hosts of the morning talk show “Magandang Buhay,” alongside Melai Cantiveros and Regine Velasquez.
Dubbed as the Queen of Philippine Pop Culture because of her pop music and camp style, Magdangal recently pondered her career as a ’90s icon.
“In a way, nakakahonor rin pakinggan [‘yun], kasi ibig sabihin may naiambag talaga ako sa kultura [In a way, it’s an honor to hear that because it means I was able to contribute to the culture of our country],” she told Billboard Philippines.
The “Ang TV” alumna underscored that it makes her proud whenever she tells her children about her journey in show biz.
“Ang dami kong pinagdaanan talaga, and para mabigyan ka ng ganoong title, parang may na-mark na ako na panahon… Kaya ako na-pro-proud kasi ang sarap ikuwento sa mga anak ko,” said the actress.
(I went through a lot indeed, and to be given that title feels like I made a mark on an era. That’s why I feel proud because I love to tell that to my children.)
Aside from being a hitmaker as a recording artist, Magdangal’s notable film and television projects include “Labs Kita… Okey Ka Lang?” (1998), “Labs Ko si Babe” (1999), “Gimik” (1996) and “Esperanza” (1997–1999).
