‘House of the Dragon’ renewed for a third season

“House of the Dragon,” the prequel to the hit series “Game of Thrones,” has been renewed for season three, which aims to explore how House Targaryen “burned bright” through time.
A streaming platform in a press statement confirmed the renewal while the series is currently airing its second season, as of press time.
“We could not be more thrilled to continue the story of House Targaryen and watch this team burn bright again for season three,” said Francesca Orsi, head of HBO Drama Series and Films.
For Orsi, the renewal of the series is a fruition of the cast and crew’s “dragon-sized” efforts in bringing the series to life.
“George [R.R. Martin], Ryan [Condal], and the rest of our incredible executive producers, cast, and crew, have reached new heights with the phenomenal second season of House of the Dragon,” she added. “We are in awe of the dragon-sized effort the entire team has put into the creation of a spectacular season two.”

Based on parts of Martin’s book “Fire & Blood,” “House of the Dragon” takes place 200 years before the events of the “Game of Thrones” and 172 years before the latter series’ lead character Daenerys Targaryen was born.
The series also narrates the events 100 years after the Targaryen conquest brought together the realms of the Seven Kingdoms.
While season two is a continuation of Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) vying for the throne of the late King Viserys, the third season’s storyline is yet to be revealed.
“House of the Dragon” stars D’Arcy, Glynn-Carney, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Matthew Needham, Sonoya Mizuno, Tom Glynn-Carney, and Ewan Mitchell.
Also part of the cast are Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, Abubakar Salim, Gayle Rankin, Freddie Fox, Simon Russell Beale, Clinton Liberty, Jamie Kenna, Kieran Bew, Tom Bennett, Tom Taylor, and Vincent Regan.
