Ria Atayde hit back at naysayers of her pregnancy announcement that came after months of speculations, with the actress saying she and her husband Zanjoe Marudo “didn’t think [they] owed anyone an announcement.”
Atayde said this in response to an Instagram user who seemingly found the pregnancy announcement amusing, pointing out how the actress supposedly initially “denied” being pregnant.
“We never denied anything, Madam. We just didn’t think we owed anyone an announcement,” Atayde replied.
Despite the impolite remark, Atayde stated, “Thank you for the support po.”
The netizen’s comment appears to have been removed from Atayde’s page, although screenshots of it have already been re-uploaded on social media.

The pregnancy speculations had hounded Ria as early as February, after she announced her engagement to Marudo. The rumors were dismissed by her younger sister Gela, although the latter revealed that the couple were already trying to have a child at the time.
The following month, Ria and Marudo tied the knot in a civil ceremony on the actress’ birthday. Ria then confirmed her pregnancy through a Father’s Day tribute to Marudo on June 16.
Marudo, meanwhile, also paid tribute to Atayde, saying in an Instagram post “Our baby and I are both so lucky to have you.”
