The competition for the 7th Eddys (Entertainment Editors’ Choice Awards for Movies) best actress is fierce, with Kathryn Bernardo (“A Very Good Girl”) and Marian Rivera (“Rewind”) among the nominees.
Joining them in vying for the award this year are Julia Montes (“Five Breakups and a Romance”); Charlie Dizon (“Third World Romance”); Vilma Santos (“When I Met You in Tokyo”); and Maricel Soriano (“In His Mother’s Eyes”).
On the other hand, nominees for Best Actor include Elijah Canlas (“Keys to the Heart”); Dingdong Dantes (“Rewind”); Cedrick Juan (“GomBurZa”); Piolo Pascual (“Mallari”); Alden Richards (“Five Breakups and a Romance”); and Romnick Sarmenta (“About Us But Not about Us”).
Meanwhile, competing in the Best Supporting Actress category are Dolly de Leon (“Keys to the Heart”); Alessandra de Rossi (“Firefly”); Gloria Diaz (“Mallari”); Gladys Reyes (“Apag”); and Ruby Ruiz (“Langitngit”).
Nominees for Best Supporting Actor are Enchong Dee (“GomBurZa”); Keempee de Leon (“Here Comes the Groom”); Nanding Josef (“Oras de Peligro”); Roderick Paulate (“In His Mother’s Eyes”): and JC Santos (“Mallari”).
Nominated in the Best Director category are Derick Cabrido (“Mallari”); Pepe Diokno (“GomBurZa”); Zig Dulay (“Firefly”); Jun Robles Lana (“About Us But Not about Us”); and Carl Joseph Papa (“Iti Mapukpukaw”).
The Eddys previously announced that they would honor veteran actors Eva Darren, Nova Villa, Leo Martinez, Lito Lapid and Gina Alajar for their contributions in uplifting the local film and television industry.
The Eddys is headed by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) and is set to take place on July 7 at the Ceremonial Hall of the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City.
