Heart Evangelista admitted there’s a lot to take in as the president of the Senate Spouses Foundation Inc. (SSFI), but as she buckled down to work on her new responsibility, she feels a new kind of fulfillment.

Evangelista was sworn in as the new president of the SSFI on Wednesday, June 5, where she took her oath along with Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla, wife of Senator Robin Padilla, as public relations officer of the organization.

More than a week later, the fashion personality told reporters on the sidelines of the MEGA Ball that she feels capable of fulfilling her new set of responsibilities. She was accompanied by her husband, Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero.

“I’m not so familiar with anything quite political, it’s [Chiz’s] world. Pero now I’ve been there almost every day even if I have my work, I still work a lot for the foundation, doing coordination and meetings, familiarized na ako. Kaya naman,” she said.

Evangelista also shared that she’s one to take her job seriously, so it’s no surprise that she will give her all in her position.

“Hindi ako ang taong half-baked (I’m not one to do my job half-baked). I put my 100% even with this,” she said. “[My first program] was very fulfilling. I went to a facility in Caloocan, it was a home for the girls, boys, and home for the aged. I’m happy I did that.”

Meanwhile, Escudero said he doesn’t want to pressure his wife with her new foray, saying it’s the latter who knows how to navigate her new responsibility at her own pace.

“Siya pa rin ang magpapasya. Sinabi ko sa kanya wag magpa-pressure. Sarili niyang barometer sundin niya (She calls the shots. I told her to not pressure herself too much. She needs to follow her own barometer),” he said.

When asked if she would attend the next Fashion Week event, she confirmed that she would make her appearance while balancing her duties.

“Yes, same thing pero it’s a bit busy this season. Hindi ko pa siya pinaplano kasi I’m so busy now. For sure, mage-enjoy ako (Yes, same thing but it’s a bit busy this season. I haven’t planned things yet but I’ll enjoy myself for sure),” she said.
