OPM rock band SunKissed Lola was elated after South Korean singer-songwriter and actress IU did a rendition of their hit song “Pasilyo.”

IU surprised her Filipino fans with a cover performance of “Pasilyo” at the Bulacan leg of her “H.E.R.E.H” world tour at the Philippine Arena last Saturday, June 1. The cover showed the “Palette” hitmaker singing the track which includes the famous lyrics “Ikaw at ikaw.”

SunKissed Lola also took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their surprise over the singer-songwriter’s cover.

“Mareng IU naman bakit nanggugulat (IU, our friend, why did you surprise us),” they wrote, while tagging her official page.

Fans of both acts congratulated SunKissed Lola after IU’s cover.

Other fans joked the song’s title should be changed into “Pashilyo” instead.

Five years since her last visit to the country, IU returned to the Philippines for the Bulacan leg of her “H.E.R.E.H” tour where she performed her hit songs “Celebrity,” “Strawberry Moon,” “Palette,” “You & I,” “Love Wins All,” “Through The Night,” “Twenty-Three,” “Blueming,” and “Lilac,” to name a few.

Born Lee Ji-eun, IU made her debut in 2008 with the single “Lost Child.” She has then skyrocketed into one of the most influential solo artists in her home country, producing chart-topping hits and records.

IU started her acting career in 2011 with the hit K-drama “Dream High” which also starred Bae Suzy and Kim Soo-hyun. She is best known for her lead roles in the series “The Producers,” “ Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo,” and “Hotel Del Luna.”

Meanwhile, SunKissed Lola was formed in 2021 and gained fame with the song “Pasilyo.” The band is composed of Dan Ombao, Alvin Serito, Laura Lacbain, Danj Quimson, Genson Viloria, and Rodnie Resos. The hit track was among the two Filipino songs included on Google’s most searched songs globally last year along with Juan Karlos’ smash hit “Ere.”
