QUEENIERICH Rehman RICHARD REYES

Even if Queenierich Rehman didn’t bag the Miss World title in China, she’s still in high spirits.

“The experience was priceless,” she says. “I made many friends during my month-long stay in China. Until now, I am still in touch with Miss Colombia, Miss Venezuela, Miss Indonesia and Miss US Virgin Islands.”

Doesn’t she feel like it was sort of a “hometown decision” since Miss China won?

“I refuse to look at it that way,” she says. “Perhaps she was just luckier that day. But I feel a bit disappointed that I didn’t win Miss Talent. Almost all the girls in the pageant and the viewers thought I would win since I did beatboxing, which was unusual for beauty queens to do in the talent portion.”

Queenierich has been into beatboxing since high school. “I’ve always been musically inclined,” she says. “In fact, one of my dreams is to become a singer.”

Show biz crush, beau

So, is show biz the next stop for her? “Yup, I’m willing to try hosting,” she says. “If I get a chance to act, I hope to be teamed up with Daniel Matsunaga. It’s a harmless crush, though. Even my boyfriend is aware of it.”

She speaks highly of her beau, Jun, a bodybuilder. “He’s always been supportive,” she beams. “He even served as my trainer to get me in my best shape for the pageant. We have marriage plans already. If and when he proposes, I want it to be extra-ordinary.”

Queenierich is happy with her “king.” So, with or without a title, she will always be on top of the world!

Controversial judge

There was grumbling about the choice of one judge in a beauty contest during the fiesta held last weekend in a city in Western Mindanao.

The judge, a stunning TV personality, is rumored to be the current love interest of a married lawmaker, who represents one of the city’s districts. Concerned citizens appealed to the fiesta organizers to replace the judge, but their request was ignored.

Beauty had better wake up before things get ugly!

B-day boy

OGIE Alcasid

To celebrate his birthday, Ogie Alcasid is holding a golf tournament today at the Capitol Hills Golf Club. All proceeds will go to victims of the recent floods through the Kapuso Foundation.

Afterwards, Ogie will host a get-together for his close friends at Dencio’s. The birthday boy is ecstatic about the “A” rating that his movie, “I Do Bidoo Bidoo,” got from the Cinema Evaluation Board.

“After the recent calamity, a feel-good movie like this is what we need,” he says. “It’s a tribute to the timeless music of APO.”

What can he say about his much talked-about bed scene with Eugene Domingo in the movie?

“It’s hilarious because Uge and I were really into it,” he gushes. “And the choreography is one of the funniest things I’ve ever done.”

Ogie is one person who’s out to spread cheer on- and off-cam. He may go laughing all the way to the bank but he heeds the cry for help of people all over.

Even if Sarah Geronimo and Gerald Anderson’s budding romance got thwarted, I just know that they won’t have “communication problems” since they both are Globe-connected. Trust me.
