Kelvin Miranda stressed that Kira Balinger had no involvement with his breakup with his non-showbiz girlfriend, as he pointed out that romance never bloomed between them while doing their new film “Chances Are You and I.”

In January 2023, Miranda was accused of cheating on his ex-girlfriend, social media influencer Roselle Vytiaco with Balinger on social media, with Vytiaco revealing screenshots of their alleged involvement.

More than a year later, Miranda addressed the allegations at the press conference of his new film with Balinger, saying he didn’t court the Kapamilya actress during filming.

“Yes, confused ako sa reality at kung totoo ba lahat ng nararamdaman ko. Or is it just because of my character? I don’t know. Pero isa lang ‘yung gusto ko linisin sa issue,” he said. “Alam din ni Kira na hindi po kami naging kami, para linawin po ang isyu. Wala pong ligawan nangyari.”

(Yes, I’m confused with reality and if my feelings were real. Or is it just because of my character? I don’t know. But I just want to clear the issue. Kira knows that we were never together. Such courtship didn’t happen.)

The Kapuso actor stressed that he’s not a “puppet” and instead, is someone who brings a director and writer’s “vision” to life.

“Ang hirap maging artista. Hindi ka lang magme-memorize ang lines, hindi lang kakabisaduhin ang blocking, hindi lang makikinig sa direktor,” he said. “Hindi ka naman puppet, kundi isang instrument para kulayan mo ang canvas na binigay sa iyo ng direktor o ng writer.”

(It’s hard to be an actor. You will not only memorize lines, remember blockings, or listen to the director. You’re not a puppet. You’re an instrument who brings color to the canvas given by the director and writer.)

Meanwhile, Balinger said it’s hard to not develop feelings for a co-worker but stressed that it shouldn’t “affect the quality” of their work as actors.

“With Kelvin’s personality, character, and the nature of our work [which is a] beautiful love story, it just happens,” she said. “But we didn’t let that affect the quality of our work. We didn’t let that affect our working relationship, so I think that’s what really matters,” she added.

The Catherine Camarillo-helmed film was announced as one of the Spotlight Entries at the Jinseo Arigato Film Festival in Japan from May 25 to 26.
