Cassie’s husband calls out abusers after Diddy’s video assaulting singer surfaces
Warning: This story contains details of physical violence and sexual abuse.
Singer Cassie Ventura’s husband, Alex Fine, penned a lengthy message speaking out about violence against women after surveillance footage was shared online showing rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulting his then-girlfriend in 2016.
On Instagram, Fine shared a message for all abusers via an old open letter, writing in his caption, “I wrote this awhile back, but the words ring true not just today but everyday. I want my kids and every kid to live in a world that’s safe for women and girls, protects them, and treats them as equals.”
He remarked in his letter shared on May 17 on Instagram that “men who hit women aren’t men. Men who enable it and protect those people aren’t men,” and that “violence against women shouldn’t be inevitable. Hold the women in your life with the utmost regard.”
Fine then extended a comforting message to the survivors of domestic abuse, saying that they are not alone and calling out the “abusers whose days are now numbered.”

His post came after CNN released a video where Diddy can be seen grabbing Ventura, pulling her to the ground, and kicking her multiple times.
The video also shows him dragging the singer by the sweatshirt as she lay on the floor after getting beat up. In another piece of footage, Diddy was seen throwing an object at Ventura.
“The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs,” Ventura’s attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, told CNN. “Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”
Diddy and Ventura were in an off-and-on relationship from 2007 to 2018. The surveillance video surfaced six months after the female singer filed a lawsuit against the rapper, accusing him of rape and abuse, claims which he denied, leading them to settle the lawsuit a day later in an undisclosed agreement.
Diddy is now reportedly the subject of a federal investigation as he faces multiple lawsuits for physical violence and sexual abuse. His son, Christian “King” Combs, is also accused of sexual assault.
Meanwhile, Fine and Ventura tied the knot in 2019. They have two daughters.
