Kapamilya actress and online content creator Ivana Alawi revealed how she was able to earn “eight digits” from her beauty line in just about three hours of doing live selling on a video-sharing platform.
The “Batang Quiapo” star first rose to fame through her vlogs, then later cracked the world of local show business. Now, she has also engaged in entrepreneurship through her own line of personal care products and supplements.
“Isang nakaka-inspire na nagulat ako, nag-live ako sa TikTok, tapos siguro two or three hours kumita siya ng (One inspiring thing that surprised me, I was doing live on TikTok, then after about two or three hours it earned) eight digits, in just three hours,” Alawi said at the TikTok Shop Summit Pilipinas 2024 held at a hotel in Taguig City on May 9.
She said she previously launched a website for her business. But after bringing it to the video-sharing platform, and seeing how different the response has been, she closed her website and focused on the social media app.
“Andami naman talagang viewers, andaming buyers, andaming tao doon (There are so many viewers, so many buyers, so many people there). And also, the thing that I really like is that I get to interact with the viewers. Nagtatanong sila, tapos sasagutin ko (They ask, and then I respond) real-time. It’s fun, you get to interact, kuwentuhan (exchanging stories), so it’s a nice experience,” Alawi shared.
And because there are no lean or peak periods on social media, Alawi said she has gotten her family on board as well. She has a sister monitoring the inventory as the orders come real-time, and then has her younger sister to take her place when she gets too exhausted facing the camera. Alawi said she can also monitor her sales wherever she is, even when she is filming for “Batang Quiapo,” or engaged in other show biz commitments.
“Actually for me, 90 percent of my revenue comes from livestreams,” continued Alawi, who was also recognized as “TikTok Shop Celebrity of the Year,” during the event. And when asked during a separate media conference held in a different hall inside the hotel how much her business earns in a day, she declined to reveal an exact figure, and just answered “basta bigatin siya (it is really enormous).”
The actress and social media personality said what has also contributed to her business’ success are the “affiliates” on the platform, or account holders who are authorized to sell her products through their own live videos. “They are all very hard working,” Alawi shared.
And as she had done in the past, Alawi said she is planning to give away a lot of gifts to her viewers and followers next month.
“Alam naman nating 6.6 ang birthday ng TikTok Shop. Sabi ko kailangan kong magpasabog. So iyong mga dati kong mga pasabog, mas pasabog ito (We all now June 6 is TikTok Shop’s birthday. I told myself that I have to come up with gimmicks. So compared to my previous gimmicks, this will be more enormous). And there will be a lot of giving back, a lot of surprises,” she said, confirming that there will again be a “shower” of mobile phones that her followers can expect.
Alawi is currently seen on the nightly Kapamilya primetime series “Batang Quiapo,” portraying the role of “Bubbles,” the current flame of Coco Martin’s “Tanggol,” the show’s protagonist. The action-drama series is seen Monday to Friday on various online, digital, and free TV channels.
