Alden Richards asserted that he would never say any “defamatory words” about one’s personal life, as he warned against fake posts of him talking about Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.

Richards issued the warning in a “24 Oras” report aired on May 15, saying he’s not the type of person who makes such comments about one’s personal life, when asked about the fake posts.

“Kahit kailan, hindi ako magco-comment ng kahit anong defamatory words to someone na hindi ko naman masyadong kasama at wala naman akong karapatang manghusga sa taong tinutukoy sa fake tweets na kumakalat,” he said.

(I will never comment any defamatory words toward someone with whom I barely interacted. I don’t have the right to judge the people referred to in these fake tweets.)

The actor reminded the public to be wary of fake news circulating on social media while pointing out the importance of “fact-checking.”

“Ingat lang tayo sa fake news dahil ang social media ay pugad ng fake news. Not until ang mga official accounts ng mga artista ang nag-post na kumakalat ng diumano, ay huwag nating paniwalaan. Mag-fact check muna tayo bago mag-call ng judgment,” he said.

(Be careful of fake news because social media is a nest of fake news, not until the actors’ official accounts made the posts. Let’s not believe these fake posts. Practice fact-checking before making a judgment.)

Richards is rumored to be courting Bernardo, who confirmed her split with Padilla in November 2023, but the “Hello, Love, Goodbye” stars have remained mum on the real score of their relationship.

The actor earlier addressed rumors that the hit 2019 film would be getting a sequel, saying he’s unsure but hopes it will happen.
