Kris Aquino expressed thanks to her close friend, Anne Binay Alcantara, for allowing her eldest son Joshua to join the latter’s family celebration of Mother’s Day as the “adopted member of their clan.”

Alcantara is one of the daughters of former Vice President Jejomar Binay. She is also the sister of sitting Senator Nancy Binay. The Binays have long been friends of Aquino’s family, as their father served as one of the lawyers of the slain Senator Benigno Aquino Jr., and was a former ally of the late former President Corazon Aquino.

On her Instagram page last Sunday, May 12, Aquino shared a photo of the Binay family’s gathering with her son Joshua towering over them, and next to the lady senator. Josh has been staying in the Philippines, while Aquino’s youngest son Bimb is staying with her in California, United States, where she is seeking treatment for her autoimmune diseases.

“To my most trusted friend, @annebinay who celebrated her birthday Mother’s Day together with her Ate Sen. @nancybinay. Thank you for being so welcoming to kuya josh & making him an adopted member of your clan,” she wrote.

“Anne, the best friend anyone could wish for — THANK YOU for the unwavering love for kuya (Josh), Bimb, and me, and for keeping all my secrets close to your chest,” Aquino added.

‘Test of courage’

Aquino further said her Mother’s Day was a “test of courage” as she had a consultation with a cardiologist at a university hospital in California.

“It’s been a ‘test of courage’ type of weekend. I had a consultation [with] a 4th doctor in UCLA, this time a cardiologist. It’s the start of Mother’s Day here and moms have never been cowards. In this instance, please help me pray for good health for all moms and a very ‘Brave Heart’ for yours truly,” she said.

On her 53rd birthday last February, the actress-host vowed to fight her condition to the very end despite having a “very strong chance of having cardiac arrest” anytime.

Back then, she told her friend Boy Abunda in an exclusive interview that the next six months will be very crucial for her as she planned to take a “baby dose” of a new drug that her doctors wanted to introduce to her, but with the side effect of weakening her natural immune system.
