Dina Bonnevie recalled how she made peace with herself after being bitter for so long following her separation from ex-husband Vic Sotto.

In a guest appearance on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Friday, May 10, Bonnevie shared that her daughter Danica Sotto played a part in the process of forgiving not only ex-husband Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes, who was the actor-host’s next wife after her, but also herself.

Moreover, Danica was instrumental in making her realize that she had long been bitter about the situation.

“It took a lot of time, until the point where Danica was telling me, ‘Alam mo Mommy, you’re so bitter. I wish you would really let go, because you are so bitter,'” she said. “Through time, sabi ko, walang pupuntahan ito, unless I really let go and just accept that it’s like this.”

Bonnevie also shared that Reyes invited her to go to their church, which made her see the bigger picture of the situation.

“Nakita ko na, she changed in leaps and bounds, like bringing people to God, bringing people to Jesus, and telling people about the good news of salvation. So I asked myself, ‘Is this a person I would like to hate? I can’t hate this person. I can’t,” she expounded.

After their visit to the church, the “Katorse” actress remarked that it dawned on her that it was time to forgive her ex-husband and Reyes, as it was also a way of forgiving herself in the process and starting a new beginning.

“I let it go. I gave her a bunch of white roses, and I said, ‘I forgive you,'” she recalled. “I forgave her; I forgave Vic; I also sent him flowers; and I said, ‘I forgive you.’ But most of all, I forgave me.'”

“I went to the beach one time with the kids, and I imagined myself throwing all my tears into the sea, all my sama ng loob, draining it out. ‘I’m letting you go. I want a fresh start, a new me,” the award-winning actress continued.

Bonnevie and Sotto tied the knot in 1982 and got separated four years later. Their marriage was annulled in 1992. They share two kids together, Danica and Oyo Boy Sotto.

Meanwhile, Vic and Reyes were together sometime in 1989. They had one son, Vico Sotto.

Vic is now married to “Eat Bulaga” co-host Pauleen Luna, with whom he shares two daughters.
