One of Hollywood’s newest heartthrobs, Nicholas Galitzine, asserted that he “sometimes feels guilty for playing queer characters on screen even though he identified as a straight man in real life.”
In a recent interview with British GQ, the 29-year-old actor opened up about feeling conflicted over the gay roles that made him a household name.
“I identify as a straight man, but I have been a part of some incredible queer stories. I felt a sense of uncertainty sometimes about whether I’m taking up someone’s space, and perhaps guilt. At the same time, I see those characters as not solely their sexuality,” he said.
Galitzine rose to fame by starring in the gay romance series “Red, White & Royal Blue.” He also recently played George Villiers in the queer period drama “Mary & George,” opposite Academy Award winner Julianne Moore.
In a separate interview, the “Purple Hearts” actor underscored that he has gr0wn to be more comfortable with who he is now, talking about the overall sense of embracing one’s identity.

“I think my sense of self has really been bolstered by my experiences as an actor and growing into adulthood, and I feel a deep sense of comfort in who I am and who I am to other people,” he said.
Galitzine also weighed in on being a role model for other men, especially the youngsters, as he identified being an ally to women, men and all genders.
“You know, as men, we have to set better examples for other men, and that’s something I’ve always been passionate about, and education, you know, the younger generations that are coming through,” he expressed.
“I think you know we’re not there yet, but we’re doing really well in the industry. I think putting talented women in positions of power and decision-making, and you know there are a lot of amazing female stories that I think we’re seeing much more commonly on screen nowadays, which is good,” added the actor.
Galitzine last starred in Prime Video’s rom-com movie “The Idea of You,” opposite Oscar winner Anne Hathaway.
