As the release of “Despicable Me 4” draws near, viewers are treated to a glimpse of the adorable Gru Jr. in the film’s official second trailer.

On Tuesday, May 7, Illumination released the second trailer for “Despicable Me 4,” where Gru (Steve Carell) is seen gripping the ropes of fatherhood as he makes breakfast for his adopted girls, Agnes (Madison Polan) and Edith (Dana Gaier), and little Gru Jr.

Set seven years after the third film, “Despicable Me 4,” is set to continue the comic relief as Gru goes back to his villain roots with his family as they go on a heist to save their lives and fight the bad guys.

The second trailer also introduces Mega Minions, spawned from a super serum designed to transform original minions into cutting-edge agents as a way to beat the new enemy. 

Gru Jr. is first introduced in the first trailer released on January 29 of this year, immediately drawing attention as he carries with him the nonchalant energy his father has, as he’s seen being sweet to his mother, Lucy (Kristen Wiig), but not to his big guy.

The first trailer also sees Gru Jr. winning over the enemies and the minions themselves because of his natural charm amid the need for their family to run from and fight the new nemesis, Maxime Le Mal (Will Ferrell) and his femme fatale girlfriend Valentina (Sofia Vergara).

After the success of the three first movies and spin-off sequels, “Despicable Me 4” is expected to draw the same amount of moviegoers this time around to overtake the overall box office gross of the franchise to more than $5 billion worldwide.

“Despicable Me 4” opens in Philippine cinemas on July 3.
