No on-cam texting, please

SOTTO. Touched by viewer’s validation of her work.

“I watched the latter part of  ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ last Saturday and I almost turned to other channels because Kris Aquino did it again – texting when she’s supposed to be judging,” shares Marian Delicona, college student: “When the camera swept to where she was seated, she was texting. That’s being disrespectful to the contestants and viewers! Why doesn’t she let her PA handle her phone?”

Other notes:

Yollie Bondoc-Dizon, food expert: “Coco Martin deserves the awards being given to him. On ‘Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin,’ he portrays two extreme characters with so much intensity.”

Mandate

Lei May Maza, office employee: “Philippine mass media, of which television is a big part, has long missed its mandate to inform, entertain and influence. Its new mandate is to earn. Only businessmen would dream of all those shows on television trying to out-kill, outsmart, or out-maneuver each other. Those shows are designed to keep you hooked and watching, resulting in endless twists in storylines and even changes in the psychological makeup of the main characters! I find the stories hopelessly improbable and, to my regret, stupid. The scriptwriters write what they think most viewers would like. Maybe I just have to turn off my TV set.”

And finally, from Ali Sotto, on the axing of her TV show, ‘Star Box’: “Your ‘Fans’ Day’ item from Cynthia Villamor is so heartwarming! I appreciate her taking the time and effort to validate my work. Those of us in the entertainment industry who are heeding the public outcry for better TV fare need all the support we can get – from the audience and advertisers. Our shows’ survival ultimately depends on ratings and commercial load.”
