Delegates from Mindanao reaped all three medals at the 2024 Miss Philippines Earth pageant’s Talent Competition held in Iligan City on May 5.
Hometown bet Kristel Codas bagged the gold, while Chaoncy Rich from Baungin, Bukidnon, and Reca Mae Abueva from Davao City clinched silver and gold, respectively.
Accompanied by backup dancers, Codas enthralled the audience at the Northern Highlands Resort in Buru-un with her contemporary Mindanao pop song-and-dance performance of Maan Chua’s “Itadyak.”
Rich performed a traditional dance, complete with live musical accompaniment and backup dancers, while Abueva played the violin.
Twety-nine ladies from around the country and overseas Filipino communities are competing in this year’s edition of the national pageant.
Reigning queen Yllana Marie Aduana will relinquish her Miss Philippines Earth title to her successor on May 11 in Talakag, Bukidnon.
The ceremonies will be streamed on the Miss Philippines Earth Facebook page and YouTube channel, and will have a telecast on A2Z on May 12.
The winner will represent the Philippines in the 2024 Miss Earth pageant in Vietnam later this year, and try to become the fifth Filipino woman to earn the crown.
