Paulo Avelino requested his fans to not give him material gifts, saying he would appreciate receiving “letters” instead.

On his Instagram broadcast channel, the Kapamilya actor remarked that, as much as he appreciates luxurious gifts, he still prefers receiving handwritten letters from fans, as he keeps all of them.

“I’m grateful for the material gifts given to me, but as much as I appreciate the gifts and the effort, please stop giving me gifts. I’ve said this before: I prefer handwritten letters to luxurious stuff,” he said.

“I hope people understand and don’t get the wrong impression here. I keep all the letters given to me,” added the actor.

Avelino recently made waves online after posing as an elevator boy at a mall in Mandaluyong, surprising the fans as he also promoted his new movie “Elevator,” opposite beauty queen turned actress Kylie Versoza.

Viva Films posted the six-minute footage of the “Fan Girl” actor serving as an elevator boy. Despite the shoppers’ confusion about whether he was indeed the actor and why he was there, most of them asked Avelino to pose for photos.

Meanwhile, the “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim” actor previously assailed the seemingly unabated practice of piracy in the entertainment industry, arguing that rampancy affects the livelihood of the people who work in front of and behind the camera.

“Bakit naman po imposible? Industriya po namin ang nalulugi sa pamimirata ng mga TV show o pelikula. Hindi lang po kabuhayan namin ang apektado kundi pati narin ang kabuhayan ng lahat ng taong nagta-trabaho sa likod ng camera. Hindi niyo sila nakikita o kilala, pero apektado rin sila. ‘Wag niyo pong gawing normal ang pamimirata ng mga palabas,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter) at the time.
