Just months after losing her triplets, actress Kathleen Hermosa revealed she unfortunately had another pregnancy loss as she was diagnosed with congenital thrombophilia.

Thrombophilia, according to Cleveland Clinic, is a condition that “makes the blood in the veins and arteries more likely to clot.”

In Kathleen’s case, she explained through a fourpart vlog on her YouTube channel that the baby’s heartbeat stopped as her condition prevented the blood supply to the fetus.

It was also disclosed in the video that Kathleen has antiphospholipid syndrome in which, as per Mayo Clinic, “the immune system mistakenly creates antibodies that attack tissues in the body.”

“Tumigil ‘yung heartbeat. May heartbeat na nung una. Lumaki din ‘yung baby—may limbs na, so nagform pero tumigil,” Kathleen informed her sister Kristine Hermosa while on video call. “Ang ibig sabihin nung congenital thrombophilia, humihinto ang supply ng dugo ng mommy papunta sa fetus.”

Kathleen, who recently marked her 43rd birthday, was in tears as she tried to process what happened, admitting she had so many questions running on her mind.

Her non-showbiz husband Miko Santos, who was with her during her medical checkup, was also evidently dispirited after learning the unfortunate news.

Despite this, Kathleen tried to reflect and shift her perspective, declaring she’s trusting God amid their “painful and confusing” situation.

“If you’re gonna ask me if I’m gonna conceive again, we will never give up trying. Alam ko God has great plans for us and we will continue to surrender,” she said.

Kathleen and Santos tied the knot in an intimate garden ceremony in Cebu in June 2023. The following November, Kathleen disclosed that she was pregnant with triplets but unfortunately lost them due to a blighted ovum.
