The hit romantic tragedy “Scarlet Heart” — which centers around a modern-era woman returning to a past dynasty — is getting a Thai adaptation starring Win Metawin and Tu Tontawan.
The Thai adaptation was announced by television production GMMTV in a teaser video on its YouTube channel on Tuesday, April 23, which features the cast in what seemed to be a black backdrop with petals and fire.
Aside from Tontawan and Metawin, the period series also stars Nanon Korapat, Tay Tawan, Perth Tanapon, Phuwin Tangsakyuen, Fourth Nattawat, and Force Jiratchapong, per GMMTV.
The production company also shared photos of the cast on its Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) pages.

Details on the cast’s roles and premiere date are yet to be announced, but series produced by GMMTV are usually shown through the company’s app or video-sharing platforms.
Under the original title “Bu Bu Jing Xin,” “Scarlet Heart” was originally written as a 2005 Chinese novel by Tong Hua that tells the story of modern-day Zhang Xiao who was sent back into the Qing Dynasty after a car accident. She then meets the Emperor’s sons and finds herself caught between their power struggles.
The novel was adapted into theater, radio, and the 2011 Chinese series of the same name. The series starred Cecilia Liu, Nicky Wu, Kevin Cheng, Yuan Hong, and Lin Gengxin.
The story was also adapted into a K-drama in 2016 which starred IU, Lee Jun-ki, Kang Ha-neul, Hong Jong-hyun, Kim San-ho, Yoon Sun-woo, Nam Joo-hyuk, Byun Baek-hyun, and Ji Soo. Instead of the Qing Dynasty, the female lead was brought back to the Goryeo Dynasty.
Both Chinese and Korean series earned a cult following through the years, with the IU and Lee-led series still having calls for its alternate ending to be shown to the public.
