As the world observed Earth Day on April 22, news anchor and actress Kaladkaren reminded people that they can opt for the sustainable route as they go about their daily lives.

“There are a lot of options these days to go natural. It’s not only beneficial for you, but it’s also beneficial for the environment,” she told INQUIRER.net in a recent interview.

“I think people nowadays are getting more conscious about sustainability, about taking care of the environment, because of course, there are the hazards of climate change, and different natural disasters caused by humans. We contribute to those effects, what’s happening to the environment,” Kaladkaren continued.

Because of this, she also reminded consumers that they have to be socially and environmentally responsible, and said she tries as much as possible to consciously take this route. “We have to be mindful of the things that we put in our body, because our body, it’s a temple, and we have to look after it. Some harmful ingredients may affect our health, so I think it’s always nice to go natural,” she said.

As someone who has to put makeup every day in line with her work, Kaladkaren said she prefers clean beauty, as she checks out the ingredients that will be good for her and the environment. “I want products that can deliver their promises, and of course, works for me. Once I do not like it, I will never use it again,” she said.

She also makes sure to remove her makeup every day after work, and swears by the power of soothing gels containing niacinamide. “Usong uso iyan sa tiktok (It’s so popular on Tiktok),” she said.

As a transgender woman, Kaladkaren admits that transitioning may involve surgical procedures, and going on hormone replacement therapy. But these also contribute to achieving what feels natural for them. “Emotionally, naturally I am a woman because I feel, and I think, and I live as a woman,” she explained.

What also comes naturally to her now, she discovered, is dealing with people. “It’s natural to me to talk to people to make them feel welcome. When I was starting in the industry, I was quite shy. Now I’m used to it. It comes naturally to me, like, when someone wants to take a picture with me, or get an interview. Before I was awkward about it, but now it comes naturally,” Kaladkaren shared.

She is seen on the nightly primetime newscast “Frontline Pilipinas” on TV5 delivering the latest lifestyle and entertainment happenings in the country.
