Star Magic announced that it would take legal action against bashers circulating “unfounded rumors” against its P-pop groups BGYO and BINI.
On the label’s X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, April 23, BGYO and BINI’s legal counsel Joji Alonso said “malicious online attacks” made against the groups are a “violation of cyberbullying and anti-label laws.”
“BGYO, BINI, and its respective members have been the subject of malicious online attacks designed to seriously hurt and damage their reputation,” the statement read. “These reckless posting and sharing of harmful, negative, and false accusations are violative of cyberbullying and anti-libel laws.”

Alonso then reminded netizens to be “responsible” in creating a “safe online environment” on social media, as she noted that “online bullies” caused “pain” among BGYO and BINI’s members.
“The past months have been a painful experience for BGYO and BINI’s members as they learn the value of personal accountability. Both groups have gained the courage to stand up against online bullies,” Alonso wrote.
As the management vowed legal action against “these emboldened bashers who circulate unfounded rumors,” Alonso said “appropriate government agencies and private service providers” were also tapped to gather evidence.
“Appropriate government agencies and private service providers have been tapped to gather evidence and hold these perpetrators accountable for their unlawful behavior. Filing of criminal cases will be set in motion,” the statement said.
“Again, we remind the public that it is not only crucial to call out acts of bashing and cyberbullying but to show kindness and accord everyone due respect both online and in real life,” Alonso added.
The announcement comes after a video of BINI’s Gwen, Stacey, Mikha and Maloi were seen dancing to the group’s smash hit “Pantropiko” at what appeared to be a birthday party hosted for BGYO’s Gelo on April 21.
This led to some netizens asking for an explanation regarding the BINI members’ attendance, as they claimed that some of BGYO’s members were allegedly hounded by rumors of cheating and assault. Other claims related to the P-pop groups’ personal lives and calls for the male quintet to disband also made rounds on social media.
Both formed by Star Hunt Academy, BGYO and BINI are marketed as sibling groups by their management.
The five-member BGYO, consisting of Gelo, Akira, JL, Mikki, and Nate, debuted in January 2021 with the single “The Light.” The quintet dropped their single “Patintero” in February.
Meanwhile, BINI made their debut five months later with the single “Born to Win.” Composed of Jhoanna, Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, and Sheena, the eight-member girl group exploded in popularity after their hit song “Pantropiko” made waves on social media, followed by the release of their first EP “Talaarawan.”
