Reigning Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios is making a stop in the Philippines in her ongoing Asian tour, the pageant’s owner Anne Jakrajutatip said on social media.
In a Facebook post on April 23, the Thai media mogul said , “HELLO UNIVERSE!!! The Next Asia Tour Destinations are the Philippines [Philippine flag emoji] and India [Indian flag emoji].”
Palacios, the first Miss Universe winner from Nicaragua, embarked on a tour of Asian countries that already saw her visiting Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and China.

It was not revealed, though, when her exact visit to the Philippines will be and for how long. It was also not clear whether she will make an appearance at the 2024 Miss Universe Philippines pageant next month.
This will be the third consecutive year that a reigning Miss Universe titleholder has visited the Philippines. Harnaaz Sandhu, the 2021 winner, came to the country for the national competition in 2022. That edition also saw 2019 winner Zozibini Tunzi as a special host.
For last year’s national competition, then-reigning Miss Universe R’Bonney Gabriel also came to the Philippines for a series of official appearances, including the coronation night. She will be back for this year’s edition as a host.
In the 2022 Miss Universe Philippines pageant, three former winners hosted the ceremonies—the Philippines’ Pia Wurtzbach from 2015, France’s Iris Mittenaere from 2016, and South Africa’s Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters from 2017.
The 2024 Miss Universe Philippines pageant will hold its coronation show at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on May 22. The winner will represent the country in the 73rd edition of the international competition and try to succeed Palacios.
