Anne Hathaway expressed doubts on the sequel to the cult classic “The Devil Wears Prada” happening, citing a number of factors, such as the differences in technology then and in the present.

In an interview with V Magazine, Hathaway said that while she is open to doing a project with any of the film’s entire cast, such as Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, any sequel to the first “Prada” movie would have a different flavor to it.

“Probably not,” she said. “We all love each other and if somebody could come up with a way to do it, I think we’d all be crazy not to. But there’s a huge difference in the world now with technology, and one of the things about that particular story is, it was about producing a physical object.”

“Now with so much being digital, it would just be very different. Maybe me, Stanley, Emily, Meryl, Dave Frankel, Patricia Field… We should just all do something else together. That’d be fun,” added the 41-year-old actress.

Hathaway first dismissed the idea of “Devil Wears Prada 2” after she and former castmates Blunt and Streep reunited on the 2024 SAG Awards stage as presenters last February.

“I don’t think a continuation of that story is probably ever going to happen. I think we will continue to give out awards to other people, so I think there’s a future for that,” she told E! News at the time.

Hathaway was asked about the possibility of the 2006 blockbuster being remade, just as the third installment of another iconic film which she starred in, “Princess Diaries,” was being discussed.

Now, the actress was more enthusiastic about this movie happening, especially after Disney signed onboard, though it’s still anybody’s guess if Hathaway would be reprising her role as Princess Mia Thermopolis of Genovia.

“We’re in a good place. That’s all I can say. There’s nothing to announce yet. But we’re in a good place,” she shared.

The Hollywood Reporter announced in 2022 that Disney has signed for “Princess Diaries 3,” though Hathaway has yet to officially confirm her participation, she remains engaged in the discussion of the third movie.

“I would more than entertain it; I’m pulling for it. If there’s any way to get Julie Andrews involved, I think we would make it work. We would go to where she was and put a green screen behind her and just make it happen,” she told Entertainment Tonight at the time.

As of now, Hathaway stars in the movie “The Idea of You,” which is currently showing in select cinemas worldwide but will premiere globally on Prime Video on May 2.
