Chantal Schmidt hopes to score PH’s third Miss Eco International crown
After Cebuana Maria Gigante successfully brought home the Philippines’ first Universal Woman crown last month, another beauty from the “Queen City of the South,” Chantal Elise Schmidt, hopes to score the country’s third victory in the Miss Eco International pageant.
The law student has already left for Egypt where the international pageant will be held, with high hopes that she will join the ranks of her fellow Visayan queens Cynthia Thomalla and Kathleen Paton, who were the pageant titleholders in 2018 and 2022, respectively.
Schmidt was one of the finalists in the inaugural staging of The Miss Philippines Culture and Heritage Celebration, a sister competition of the Miss Universe Philippines pageant under Empire Philippines, which is now the official Philippine license holder of the Miss Eco International and Miss Eco Teen International contests. The Miss World Philippines Organization had held the franchise for both global tilts since 2017.
The national search was held in October last year and proclaimed Alethea Ambrosio as winner, with Schmidt and two more ladies in the final four also guaranteed a national title with a corresponding international competition. At the time of the contest, Empire Philippines announced the Miss Supranational, Miss Asia Pacific International and Miss Charm as the affiliate global tilts for the winners.
In February, Empire Philippines proclaimed Ambrosio as Miss Supranational Philippines. Schmidt was appointed as the country’s Miss Eco International bet, with Hanna Uyan as the Miss Eco Teen International delegate.

“Let us show the Eco International world that we’ve got our Queen’s back! Support the Philippines, support Chantal!” The Miss Philippines competition pleaded on social media.
Reigning queen Nguyen Thanh Ha from Vietnam will relinquish her title to her successor at the culmination of the final competition later this month.
