Having dated and been courted by different guys, Kaye Abad revealed that John Lloyd Cruz was her ex that she had a difficult time moving on from as she had to work with him on a project after their breakup.
In a guest appearance on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Friday, April 12, the actress shared that she and Cruz had already separated when they became a love team in ABS-CBN’s defunct youth-oriented series “Tabing-Ilog.”
“Nahihirapan akong mag-move on kasi magkatrabaho kami, magka-love team kami. Umabot sa point na mag-asawa kami sa ‘Tabing-Ilog,’” she said.
Even if they had already broken up at the time, Abad said that there were times when they were trying to hide their moments.
“Ayaw na ng parents ko. Nagtatago kami sa yaya ko kasi kapag wala nang take, makikisingit ako sa dressing room nila para magkasama kami,” she remarked.
The “A Journey” star asserted that when Cruz had a girlfriend after their separation, this made her moving-on process more difficult.
“Tapos nagka-girlfriend siya after ko. Hindi na niya ako pinapansin kasi nagseselos ‘yung girlfriend sa akin so nahihirapan ako,” she said.
“Naiintindihan ko ‘yung girl, kasi love team, so hindi maiiwasan na may kissing [scene]. Naiintindihan ko ‘yung side ng girl,” added the actress.
Abad also talked about her other ex-boyfriend, singer Chito Miranda, and shared that they had a good breakup and that they remain friends to this day.
“We’re still friends. We broke up na magkaibigan kami. He even invited me sa wedding niya. Invited din siya sa wedding ko,” she expressed.
“Sa amin kasi ni Chito, parang nagkaintindihan kami na, ‘It’s better this way.’ Na, it’s better na maging friends na lang kami and na-maintain namin na friends kami.” the actress further explained.
The “Ang TV” actress further revealed that her biggest celebrity crush when they were younger was Patrick Garcia, even as she shared that Piolo Contis tried to court her but that they chose to be friends instead.
Abad is now married to Paul Jake Castillo. They have two sons.
