Television celebrity Tricia Anne Florendo, a cohost of the noontime show “It’s Showtime,” filed a charge of attempted sexual assault against 25-year-old model Shervey Torno, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) reported on Friday.

The police said the event happened on Thursday evening at the lobby of an apartment block in Quezon City.

Florendo said Torno followed her as she was heading for her apartment and he later knocked on her door.

When Florento partially opened the door, the suspect asked for her Facebook page, but suddenly wrapped his arm around the victim’s waist and asked for a kiss, the QCPD said.

The startled Florendo pushed Torno away and sought assistance from the guard on duty at the lobby who promptly apprehended the suspect.

Quezon City police chief Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said Torno was brought to Kamuning Police Station 10 and will be charged with foiled sexual assault. He also reminded the public to also report such incidents immediately. —JACOB LAZARO
