Tanya Garcia says her past showbiz hiatus is due to burnout
Despite being a household name, Tanya Garcia has been in and out of showbiz since the 2000s, and the actress recently shared that one of her career hiatuses in the past was due to experiencing burnout.
Sitting down with Aster Amoyo on TicTALK, Garcia said that when she was doing one of the longest running soap operas of GMA Network, “Sana ay Ikaw na Nga,” opposite Dingdong Dantes, she felt “a different kind of exhaustion” because of having to do promotions in between the day and night taping of the show.
“‘Yung parang pagod na pagod ka. Tapos hindi mo na alam kung anong araw. ‘Anong araw ngayon. Anong date ngayon. Sino na ba ako ngayon.’ So, there was a time na parang, I was really thinking, ‘Is this really what I want?’ I was never asked. I was never asked by anyone na, ‘Gusto mo ba ‘to?’” she expressed.
After starring in “Twin Hearts” in 2004, Garcia remarked about her next role in “Mulawin,” which made her realize that being in the limelight no longer fulfills her.
“That time kasi lumilipat ang Viva sa ABS. Lumipat na si Anne (Curtis). Lumipat na si Sarah (Geronimo). Everyone was moving. Doon na ako nakapagsalita sa Viva na hindi muna ako sasama to transfer there. And then I resigned sa Mulawin, in the middle. They had to kill my character. Kasi sabi ko parang, ‘hindi na ako nage-enjoy sa ginagawa ko.’ I was really burnt out na,” said the actress.

Despite her every-now-and-then inactivity, the actress expressed her gratitude for the offers that continue to land on her doorstep.

Ako minsan nga, hindi ko naman kinu-question, pero parang wow, no? Hindi pa rin nila ako nakakalimutan. Parang nag-semi-retire na nga ako, para alam naman nila na ayoko na rin talaga. Pero meron pa rin. So, syempre blessing ‘yan, di ba, tita?” she remarked.
Aside from her television and movie roles, Garcia was included in the list of the sexiest Pinays in Philippine showbiz. She first appeared in the March 2006 issue of FHM Philippines.
