Oscars winners Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix take the stage as lovers in the upcoming musical, psychological thriller film “Joker: Folie à Deux,” the highly anticipated sequel to 2019’s “Joker.”

On April 9 (April 10th in the Philippines), the audience was given an exciting peek into the shared madness chemistry of the Hollywood stars as Warner Bros. dropped the 2-minute official teaser trailer for “Joker 2.”

The trailer opens with Phoenix reprising his role as the Clown Prince of Crime, serving his jail time. “We use music to make us whole. To balance the fractures within ourselves,” he said in a voiceover.

He sees Gaga’s Harley Quinn in the hallway sending him a gesture of a firing gun on her head. “I’m nobody. I haven’t done anything with my life like you have.” she said.

The pair is then seen passionately dancing under the moonlight on the streets of Gotham as the Burt Bacharach-Hal David classic “What the World Needs Now Is Love” plays in the background.

In between the scenes of destruction and madness, the popular couple in the DC Comics share a few intimate moments, showing that their crazy love will endure the chaos. “I’ll tell you what’s changed. I’m not alone anymore,” said Joker.

The trailer ends with Gaga visiting the Joker at Arkham Asylum, putting a red lipstick mark on the glass separating them, as she tells him, “I want to see the real you,” before he breaks into a dark smile.

“Joker: Folie à Deux” is helmed by director Todd Phillips and will also feature returning “Joker” star Zazie Beetz, “Banshees of Inisherin” Oscar nominee Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and “Industry” breakout star Harry Lawtey, among others.

Despite the criticism it received due to the execution of mental health, the first “Joker” film received 11 Oscar nominations, including best picture and best director. It won best original score and best actor for Phoenix.

“Joker: Folie à Deux” premieres on October 2 in Philippine cinemas, two days before its worldwide debut.
