Janella Salvador got some netizens’ backing after being bashed as “rude” for her “paos ako, kayo na lang” (my voice is hoarse, you guys do it instead) remark on “It’s Showtime.”

On Tuesday, April 2, Salvador made a guest appearance on the noontime show to promote her movie “Under the Parallel Skies” with Thai actor Win Metawin. During her spiel, the actress mentioned her new song and her upcoming concert, and co-host Kim Chiu asked Salvador for a “sample” of the song.

However, the singer-actress remarked that her voice was not okay and said, “Medyo paos ako today, kayo na lang. Next time, promise.” (My voice is hoarse today; you guys do it instead.)  In the video making the rounds online, Chiu was seen slightly embarrassed after her exchange with Salvador.

In the show’s segment “EXpecially for You,” Vice Ganda repeated Salvador’s statement, “Medyo paos siya ngayon, kayo na lang” (Her voice is hoarse today; you guys do it instead) to the contestant who also didn’t want to do a “sample.” In the clip, it can be seen that her co-hosts, including Chiu, were laughing.

After the video of their exchange circulated online, some bashed Salvador, throwing hurtful remarks involving her personal life, and called her “rude” for not wanting to do a sample and embarrassing Chiu. However, some others defended the “Darna” actress and called out Vice Ganda for throwing “shade” and making the situation worse.

“That was honestly so low and unprofessional of Vice to pull a stunt like that. Hindi niya naisip na lalabas silang toxic at bully sa mga guest. Wala namang masama doon sa sinabi ni Janella like for real. It was just taken out of context.” wrote one user.

“Of all people, Vice and Kim, as performers, should know how important it is to perform in their best condition. Sinabi naman ni Janella na paos siya and the “kayo na lang” remark is literally part of Filipino humor and is often used as banter sa showtime.” said another netizen.

Right now, the “Janella Get Behind Me” is currently trending on X (formerly Twitter) as netizens continue to defend the singer-actress.
