Sylvia Sanchez is one happy mother-in-law as she officially welcomed Zanjoe Marudo into their family, after he tied the knot with the veteran actress’ daughter Ria Atayde last March 23.
Marudo and Atayde said “I do” at a civil wedding headed by Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, followed by an intimate reception.
Days later, Sanchez took to her Instagram to thank God for blessing her daughter with Marudo whom she referred to as a “good husband and respectful child.”
“Walang hanggang pasasalamat Panginoong Jesus dahil binigyan mo ng napakagandang regalo ang aking si Potpot @ria ng isang napakabuting asawa, marespetong bata, mapagmahal na kapatid, anak at napakaresponsableng tao,” she captioned her post, dated March 31
(Endless gratitude to Lord Jesus because He blessed Ria with a wonderful gift in the form of someone who’s a good husband, respectful child, loving brother and son, and a responsible person as well.)
The actress then said her “mother’s instinct” helped her realize that Marudo is indeed the one for her daughter.
“Unang araw ko kayong nakitang magkasama alam ko ng kayo ang magkakatuluyan. Naramdaman ko yan,” she said. “@onlyzanjoemarudo mula noon welcome ka na sa pamilya namin, ginawa mo ng official noong 3-23-24. Sabi nga ng Daddy @xaviiart mo sa speech nya, ang aming pangatlong lalaking anak.”
(The first time you started dating, I always knew you would end up together. I felt that. Zanjoe, you have always been welcome in our family. You just made it official on March 23, 2024. Your dad even referred to you as his third son in his speech.)
Meanwhile, Marudo expressed his gratitude to his wife’s family in the comments.

Marudo and Atayde announced their engagement in February 2024, more than a year after they were confirmed to be in a relationship.
Sanchez appeared to have confirmed their romance in an October 2022 interview with Korina Sanchez, but Atayde admitted in March 2023 that she was unsure of how their romance started since they were close friends before falling in love.
