Michael Alvarado and Filipino-American Carissa Alvarado, who make up the folk duo Us The Duo, underscored that while they are “no longer married,” they try to be the “best co-parents” for their daughter Xyla.
The pair announced this through a joint statement released on Us The Duo’s Facebook page on Friday, March 29.
“Us The Duo was created back in 2012 as a place for us to share our music with the world. We’re so happy to let you know that we have plenty of exciting things on the way for 2024,” they said, adding that they would be dropping singles, remixes and an acoustic Christmas release this year.
“In the meantime, we did want to let you know a bit about our personal lives. The two of us are no longer married, but we still have so much love for each other, and most importantly, for our daughter Xyla,” they stated.
The former couple further disclosed that they have gone their separate journeys for quite some time now.
“…Although life looks a little bit different than before, we are both still creating and absolutely love being the best co-parents we can. Xyla has also transitioned wonderfully into this new normal and is still her happy and joyful self!” they assured fans.
“We know our music means so much to you all, as it does to us…. The message, the feelings and the love in our past music will always be our truth for that time in our lives and we hope you’ll continue to cherish the music and your memories attached to it for eternity,” they continued.
Concluding their message, they wrote, “Thank you for all your support over the past 12 years. We love you all so much.”
Michael and Carissa rose to fame in 2013 after their song covers went viral in the now-defunct video application Vine. They welcomed daughter Xyla in 2018.
