Filipino drag queen Marina Summers emerged as one of the Top 4 finalists who will be competing in the finals of “RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs the World.”
Marina earned her win after showcasing her wit in the comedy roast “Michelle and Graham Haters Wedding Roast,” as seen in the reality competition’s episode on Friday, March 22 (Saturday, March 23, in the Philippines).
She also served looks in the runway category “Take Me Up The Aisle,” donning a traditional wedding ceremony attire of the Yakan, an ethnic group in Mindanao. The ensemble was by Zamboanga-based designer Erich Miñoza.
“Not all weddings are white,” she said, showing herself in the Yakan wedding attire.
“I feel honored and blessed to have been able to share this traditional Yakan wedding ceremony attire (one of the Philippines’ many ethnic groups) on the world’s stage of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs the World,'” she stated. “From Luzon, to Visayas and now Mindanao. I meant it when I say I wanted to represent the entire country.”
Marina also took to her Instagram Stories on Saturday to celebrate her win.
Other queens who have made it to the finals are Tia Kofi, Hannah Conda and La Grande Dame.
Marina is the first Filipina drag performer to represent the Philippines as a contestant in an international edition of the hit franchise.
Prior to this, she already gained prominence after finishing as a runner-up of “Drag Race Philippines” season one in October 2022.
