“Selos” singer Shaira Moro asked her fans to stop the bashing toward Australian singer Lenka, clarifying as well that the latter’s team reached out to her regarding her song’s copyright issue in a polite manner.
Lenka was earlier swarmed with negative comments from Filipino netizens after Moro’s viral hit “Selos”—which used the melody of Lenka’s 2008 song “Trouble Is a Friend”—was taken down from streaming platforms due to the Australian singer’s legal action.
Moro then addressed the matter through her Facebook page on Friday, March 22.
(I just want to ask my supporters who have made negative and inappropriate comments against my idol Lenka to please stop.)
Moro noted that she understands her fans’ sentiment and that she is thankful for their support, although she also stressed that Lenka only did the right thing.
(I also want you to know that Lenka’s team approached us politely, and that they talked to us in an appropriate manner. We know that they just did what’s right and lawful.)
(I hope that the bashing and hate comments thrown at her will stop, and that we instead show the public that we are peace-loving citizens. Let’s just spread good vibes.)
Moro’s agency AHS Productions earlier announced that it was working on securing a cover license for “Selos.”
